Our stay will be basic but neat and clean.

For Amboseli National Park, we will stay in Kimana, the nearest town to the Kimana Gate of Amboseli National Park. Food will be provided at the accommodation.

For Lake Nakuru National Park, we will stay in Nakuru city.  We will arrange food from a nearby restaurant and serve it at the accommodation.

For Masai Mara, our accommodation will be located within one kilometer of the Oloolaimutia Gate. Food will be provided at the accommodation.

Two camera bodies are recommended as the environment will be dusty during the safari, and changing lenses in the field is strongly discouraged. If you have no choice but to change lenses in the field, we recommend carrying a sensor cleaning kit with you.

A 70-200mm lens is a must-have for this tour. Additionally, a long telephoto lens is essential for capturing distant animals and birds.

The weather in Masai Mara throughout the year can be summarized as follows:

1. Transitional Seasons (January to February):

  • Temperature: Daytime temperatures are usually around 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F), with cooler nights.
  • Conditions: Generally dry with some showers possible in February. Wildlife sightings are still great, and the landscape is more open, allowing easier access to game.

2.  Long Rainy Season (March to May):

  • Temperature: Daytime temperatures hover between 23°C and 27°C (73°F to 81°F), with cooler nights.
  • Conditions: Heavy rains, which can lead to muddy roads and challenging travel conditions. However, the park remains less crowded, and the lush landscape is vibrant with new plant growth, offering unique photographic opportunities.

3. Dry Season (June to October):

  • Temperature: Daytime temperatures range from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), while nights can be cooler, dropping to 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F).
  • Conditions: Clear skies, minimal rainfall, and excellent visibility for wildlife viewing. This is the peak safari season, with the Mara being particularly popular due to the annual wildebeest migration (typically between July and October).

4. Short Rainy Season (November to December):

  • Temperature: Daytime highs of 22°C to 26°C (72°F to 79°F), and cooler nights.
  • Conditions: Occasional showers, typically short but intense, usually in the late afternoon or evening. The vegetation becomes lush, and the park is less crowded, providing a more serene experience for wildlife watching.
